Welcome to The Peranakan Festival Website!
After a successful inaugural year, the Peranakan Festival from 15 June to 31 July, running over six weekends (16-17, 23-24, 30 June, 1, 7-8, 14-15, 21-22, 28-29 July) from 11am to 6pm will sweep visitors into an enriching immersion experience of the fascinating Straits Chinese community. Performances, a first-ever pop-up exhibition of an interior of a Peranakan house, cooking demonstrations, tastings and a sumptuous high tea with joget sessions that will entertain visitors at Claymore Connect and The Peranakan Restaurant at 442 Orchard Road.
Enjoy Joget Joget weekends that highlights the Peranakan love for music and dance.
Exhibitions on Peranakan culture and art highlight the community’s heritage, such as a showcase on the game of cherki, played by Nyonyas in the past. This popular card game, which originated from Malacca, was usually accompanied by gossip around the table, swapping recipes and chewing betel nut.
